Your Time and Talents Are Needed

Ellis County United has many different types of opportunities to volunteer with our organization.  If you have time weekly, monthly, or only once or twice a year, we’d love to have you as a part of our ECU Family. Our ECU families’ and community’s commitment to volunteering is critical to the success of the ECU program.  There are many ways to help volunteer.

  • Coaching Staff:  Share your love of a sport by leading athletes, unified partners, and volunteers during one of our seasons.   Most regular seasons run for a minimum of 8 weeks, and those that go on to state competition may last for 16 weeks.   Practices are once or twice a week.  Coaches are required to have coach training, sport-specific training, volunteer application, and background checks.
  • Sports-Specific Volunteer:  Our athletes often need extra hands to help guide them through learning the skills of a sport weekly.  Each sport has specific needs for volunteers during practices and competitions.  Volunteers are required to have a volunteer application and background check on file with Special Olympics Texas.
  • Unified Athletes:  Many of our sports have an opportunity for UNIFIED play!  This is where athletes without disabilities become unified partners to compete on teams alongside our ECU Athletes.   We currently have unified partners in swimming, bocce, golf, bowling, and cycling.   We are always open to finding more opportunities for INCLUSIVE PLAY!
  • Event Volunteers:  Throughout the year, we have opportunities to volunteer for single-day events like local competitions, recruiting events, athletic banquets and Night To Shine.
  • Behind the Scenes: Marketing, finance, public relations, school connections, and family support are all things that are going on throughout the year to help make our organization the best that it can be.  What’s your talent, and how can we find a spot for your expertise?
